McElroy Metal, the panel manufacturer, runs a hands-on installer class for its standing seam roof systems. The course covers metal roofing materials, basic design, layout and sequencing, and the details that make or break a job: hips, valleys, pipe flashings and curbs.

The first 2027 session runs January 28 to 29, 2027, in Bossier City, Louisiana. Two more 2027 sessions are listed in Bossier City, on February 25 to 26 and March 25 to 26, and the remaining 2026 sessions were already full when we checked. The company lists the fee for Bossier City classes at $200 per person, with travel and lodging not included.

Who goes: installers and crew leads who put down McElroy standing seam panels, and contractors who want their crews trained on the manufacturer’s details before they bid that work.

What a metal roofer or fabricator gets out of it: hands-on time with the company’s Maxima and 238T systems and an overview of several of its other panels, then a written test and a certificate of completion. A certificate from the panel maker is a useful line in a bid package. For a Texas crew, Bossier City is about three hours from Dallas by road. Our trade show calendar lists other training dates as we find them.

Registration, the full course outline and the cancellation policy are on the company’s site at mcelroymetal.com.
