A listing on Find a Metal Roofer is free, and in return we ask that it be accurate, written for homeowners and owned by someone who speaks for the business. These guidelines apply to every listing, whether you created it or claimed one we created. They are part of our terms of use.
Who may list
Any legitimate business that works in metal roofing in the United States: installers, fabricators, manufacturers, suppliers, roll former dealers and consultants. Sole proprietors are welcome. The person who creates or claims the listing must be the owner, a manager or an employee authorized to represent the company. Lead-generation services, marketing agencies, referral networks and businesses that do not themselves work in metal roofing may not list, and a company may not list on behalf of another company without its permission.
Accuracy
- Use the business name as it appears on your license or registration, not a slogan or a list of services.
- Give a real street address where the business operates. Home-based companies may list their home address or ask us to show the city only, but the address must be real.
- The phone number must reach your business, and the website must be yours.
- Select only the company types, roof styles, metals and markets you actually work in. A homeowner who calls about copper flat-lock should not find out you only do exposed fastener steel.
- Year founded, crew size and hours must be true. Keep them current, and update the listing when anything changes.
One listing per location
Each business location gets one listing. A company with three branches may have three listings, one per branch, each with its own address and phone. A company with one shop that serves ten counties gets one listing with a service radius that covers them; the directory handles distance, so you do not need a listing for every town you serve. Duplicate listings are merged or removed, and the duplicate’s reviews move to the surviving listing.
Write for people, not search engines
The about section is where a homeowner decides whether to call. Describe what you do, how long you have done it and what you are good at, in plain sentences. We trim or reject listings that stuff in keywords, repeat city names, write in all capitals, or claim to be the best, the top rated or number one. Do not name competitors. Do not put phone numbers, email addresses or web links in the about text; there are fields for those. Pricing in the listing is fine if it is honest and labeled approximate.
Photos and logos you own
Upload only images you own or have written permission to use: your logo and photos of your own finished jobs. Stock photos, manufacturer brochure images and photos taken from other contractors’ websites are not allowed, even with credit, and are removed when we find them. Do not upload photos that show homeowners or crew members’ faces without their consent, and do not include anything that identifies a customer’s address unless the customer agreed. Copyright complaints are handled through the DMCA page.
Licenses, insurance and certifications
Enter a license number only if it is current and issued to this business in a state or locality that requires one, and enter it exactly as it appears on the license so homeowners can look it up. Mark the business as insured only if it carries general liability coverage today. Name manufacturer certifications or installer programs only while they are current. We do not verify these details, but a listing found to have false license or insurance claims is removed and the account is closed.
The Verified badge is applied by us when we have confirmed your business contact; please do not describe it, or your listing, as an endorsement, award or certification from Find a Metal Roofer. Saying you are listed here is fine.
Reviews
You may ask customers for reviews. You may not pay or reward for them, write them, post them from your own or employees’ accounts, or ask only the customers you expect to be happy. Respond to reviews through the owner response on your listing, and read the review guidelines for the full rules.
Changes we may make
We may correct a listing’s categories, fix formatting, adjust its map location, shorten keyword-stuffed text, remove images that break these rules and add the Verified badge. We do not rewrite your about section beyond that, and we never change your contact details without checking with you.
When a listing is removed or suspended
We remove or suspend a listing when the business closes or stops doing metal roofing, when a listing was created by someone without authority, when details prove false, when the company buys or fakes reviews, when it repeatedly ignores these guidelines, or when the law requires it. Where we can, we email the account first and give you a chance to fix the problem. Decisions can be appealed through the contact page.
